After 36 bountiful years of farming, Jay and Polly Armour, founders and owners of Four Wind Farm, are transitioning to retirement. We will no longer grow vegetables for sale or attend farmers markets. Four Winds Farm will continue to produce and sell organic vegetable seedlings, raise grass-fed beef, and make compost.

Four Winds Farm has always worked hard to support the next generation of farmers. In 2010, we handed over our CSA to beginner farmers. Running for 11 seasons, Second Wind CSA became a farm incubator for young farmers to gain experience running and operating their own business with the mentoring support of Polly and Jay. We are now excited to continue supporting young farmers by leasing our land to the capable hands of Wood Thrush Farm.
Laurel and Kevin of Wood Thrush Farm are taking over management of the four acres of no-till beds and will continue to grow vegetables using the eco-friendly, no-till approach developed by Polly and Jay. Prior to coming to Four Winds Farm in 2021, Wood Thrush Farm spent many years growing their business at Windfall Farms in Montgomery, NY. Laurel and Kevin grow over 500 varieties of vegetables and fruits and maintain a coop of around 100 laying hens. While they specialize in high quality hand harvested baby greens and microgreens, they also grow everything that you’d find at a fresh market, as well as several specialty crops like ginger, turmeric and edible flowers. Wood Thrush Farm attends the 79th st Greenmarket in NYS on Sundays March-December.
